Slam Dunk

“Slam Dunk” is the first anime I’ve watched in my life, back when I wasn’t even aware that I was watching anime at the time. Of course, it has a manga beforehand.

Well, “Slam Dunk” is a manga series written and illustrated by Takehiko Inoue, published in a total of 31 volumes between 1990 and 1996. Afterwards, its anime adaptation aired from 1993 to 1996 and gained great fame worldwide. The time when I watched this anime corresponds to around 1995-1996. The manga received an award in the shonen category in 1994.

As for the plot, our protagonist is Hanamichi Sakuragi. He’s a troublemaker and the leader of a small gang. He’s constantly being rejected by girls. His facial expressions before and after rejection are particularly hilarious. After being rejected about 50 times, Sakuragi meets his dream girl, Haruko Akagi, at Shohoku High School. What’s different about Haruko is that, unlike everyone else, she’s not afraid of our guy. Because her brother is a bit of a maniac, and also the captain of the basketball team. After Haruko discovers Sakuragi’s athletic abilities, she encourages him to play basketball, but since our guy’s knowledge of basketball is at magma level, he puts a lot of effort into learning to play throughout the manga. At first, all he can do is rebound, apart from that, he’s just a presence on the court. Later on, he learns to dunk, dribble, and so on. By the way, Sakuragi’s incredible development and his rivalry with Kaede Rukawa are also very important.

Honestly, the manga’s plot revolves around classic national tournaments, team bonds, friendship, rivalry, and comedy elements. Ultimately, our guy emerges as a highly effective player.
In short, it’s highly recommended. The only drawback is that the drawings and the anime itself are quite old school. So if you compare it to today’s anime and manga, it might seem a bit bland to you, but please continue reading it insistently.

Slam Dunk benim hayatımda izlemiş olduğum, ki o dönem anime izlediğimin farkında değildim, ilk animedir. Tabi ki öncesinde mangası vardır.

Efendim, Slam Dunk, Takehiko Inoue tarafından yazılan ve aynı zamanda çizimleri yapılan 1990-1996 yılları arasında toplamda 31 cilt halinde yayımlanan bir manga serisidir. Daha sonrasında 1993-1996 yıllarında animesi yayımlanmış ve dünya çapında büyük bir üne kavuşmuştur. Benim bu animeyi izlediğim tarihlerde açıkçası 95-96 yıllarına tekabül etmektedir. Mangası, 1994 yılında shonen kategorisinde ödül almıştır.

Konusuna değinecek olursak, mangamızın kahramanı Hanamichi Sakuragi’dir. Kendisi bir kabadayı ve ufak çaplı bir çetenin lideridir. Sürekli kızlar tarafından reddedilmektedir. Reddedilme sonrasındaki ve teklif öncesi yüz ifadeleri de ayrı komiktir. Sakuragi toplamda 50 kez filan reddedildikten sonra Shohoku Lisesinde hayallerindeki kızla yani Haruko Akagi ile tanışıyor. Haruko’nun farklı yanı ise herkesin aksine bizim delikanlıdan korkmuyor, çekinmiyor. Çünkü bu kızın abisi de ayrı bir manyak, aynı zamanda basketbol takımının da kaptanı. Haruko, Sakuragi’nin atletik yeteneklerini keşfettikten sonra onu basketbol oynamaya yönlendiriyor, ama bizim elemanın basketbol bilgisi magma seviyesinde olduğu için oynamayı öğrenmek için baya çaba gösteriyor manga süresince. Başlarda tek yapabildiği ribaunt almak, bunun dışında oyunda etkisi eleman rolünde. Daha sonrasında ise smaç basmayı, top sürmeyi vs. öğreniyor. Bu arada Sakuragi’nin inanılmaz gelişiminde Kaede Rukawa’yla olan çekişmesi de çok önemlidir.

Açıkçası manganın konusu klasik ulusal turnuvalar, takım içi bağlar, arkadaşlık, rekabet ve komedi unsurları ekseninde şekilleniyor. Nihayetinde bizim eleman oldukça efektif bir oyuncu olarak ön plana çıkıyor.

Özetle aşırı derecede tavsiye olunur. Tek sıkıntısı çizimler ve animenin kendisi baya bir old school. Yani günümüz animeleri ve mangaları ile kıyaslarsanız size biraz tatsız gelebilir ama lütfen ısrarla okumaya devam ediniz.

Vagabond

“Vagabond,” written and illustrated by Takehiko Inoue, adapts the life story of the Japanese swordsman Miyamoto Musashi from Eiji Yoshikawa’s novel. It was first released in 1998. To be honest, there was a hiatus in the manga around 2014, but then a new chapter was published in May 2015. While I can’t be entirely sure if the final chapter of the manga has been released, it’s sufficient for me. It has received numerous awards in its field and gained worldwide fame. With a total of 82 million copies sold worldwide, it has secured its place among the best-selling manga of all time. As far as I know, there is no anime adaptation, but if there is, I haven’t watched it.

The story begins after the Battle of Sekigahara in 1600. It narrates the events of two 17-year-old youths who set out from their villages to become skilled swordsmen, trying to escape from slave traders after the aforementioned battle, and later seeking refuge in the house of two women. By the way, the names of these youths are Takezō Shinmen and Matahachi Hon’iden. Shinmen is actually our Musashi.

If you’re thinking of starting the manga with expectations of seeing plenty of battle scenes, I suggest you don’t. Because this manga is actually a masterpiece that should be read while also researching the history of the period. Throughout the manga, we witness the decline of swordsmanship in Japan, giving way to firearms and other weapons, as well as the depiction of samurais or independent wandering master swordsmen. Although Musashi appears to be the main character of the manga, there are several other names that should be noted here. These include Sasaki Kojiro, Ito Ittosai, Seijuro Yoshioka, Ryohei Ueda, and Sekishusai Yagyu. You’ll probably become a fan of Kojiro.

It is strongly recommended to find these characters, some of whom are fictional and some of whom have real-life counterparts, through Google while reading the manga. Because the main issue is Musashi finding his own path in life and the way of his sword.

There is a quote here that many people misunderstand but has deep meanings beneath it. “Invincible under the sun/heaven.” I don’t want to write my own interpretations of the quote because it would reveal the fundamental idea of the entire manga, but I believe you will understand how the sentence leaves a mark when it is interpreted in the opposite way in terms of a person’s ego and life purpose within the manga.

Açıkçası 2014 yılı gibi mangaya bir ara verilmiş ancak daha sonrasında 2015 mayıs ayında yeni bir bölüm daha yayınlanmıştır. Nasıl desem mangayı okuyan birisi için manganın son bölümü bitip bitmediğinden net emin olamam ile birlikte benim için yeterlidir. Kendi dalında oldukça fazla ödül almış ve dünya çapında üne kavuşmuştur. Dünya çağında satılan 82 milyon kopyayla birlikte tüm zamanların en çok satan mangaları arasında yerini almıştır. Benim bildiğim kadarıyla animesi yoktur, varsa da ben izlemedim.

Hikaye, 1600 yılındaki Sekigahara Savaşının sonrasında başlamaktadır. İyi birer kılıç ustası olmak için köylerinden yola çıkan 17 yaşındaki iki gencin, söz konusu savaş sonrasında köle tacirlerinin elinden kaçmaya çalışırken 2 kadının evine konuk olmasıyla ve daha sonrasında yaşanan ve gelişen olaylar anlatılmaktadır. Bu gençlerimizin adı bu arada Takezō Shinmen ve Matahachi Hon’iden’dir. Shinmen zaten bizim Musashi.

Mangaya eğer bol bol savaş sahnesi görürüm gibi düşüncelerle başlayacaksanız bence hiç başlamayın. Çünkü bu manga aslında bir yandan söz konusu dönemin tarihini de araştırarak okunması gereken bir başyapıttır. Çünkü bütün bu manga süresince bizler Japonyadaki kılıç sanatının düşüşe geçişini, yerini tüfek vb. silahlara bırakışını, samurayların ya da bir lordan bağımsız gezen başına buyruk kılıç ustalarını anlatmaktadır. Musashi her ne kadar manganın baş kahramanı olarak görünse de burada dikkat edilmesi gereken birkaç isim daha vardır. Bunların başında Sasaki Kojiro, Ito Ittosai, Seijuro Yoshioka, Ryohei Ueda ve Sekishusai Yagyu gelmektedir. Kojiro’nun hastası olmanız zaten yüksek ihtimal.

Bazıları hayali bazıları gerçek hayatta da karşılığını bulan bu karakterleri google’dan bularak mangayı bu şekilde okumanız önemle tavsiye olunur. Çünkü asıl mesele Musashi’nin kendi hayat yolunu, kılıcının yolunu bulmasıdır.

My Hero Academia

My Hero Academia, known shortly as MHA in the online world, is a manga written and illustrated by Kōhei Horikoshi. Our manga, which began serialization in 2014, tells the story of Izuku Midoriya’s journey to become a superhero and the events that unfold within this framework. By the way, our manga has sold over 50 million copies worldwide and has won numerous awards.

In the fictional world of our manga, people are born with superpowers called quirks. Of course, not everyone is lucky enough to be born with these powers, and not every superpower is useful. So, even in the manga, if you’re unlucky, life isn’t smiling at you, my friends. Anyway. Midoriya is one of those young people born without any quirk, but his greatest dream is to become like All Might, the greatest superhero in Japan. For this reason, he enters the tests and exams of Hero Academia and then continues this process under the guidance of All Might. His relationship with All Might is crucial here, but I can’t go into the details because it would be a spoiler. Because not everything goes as smoothly as it seems in the world of heroes.

By the way, I’ve both read the manga and watched the anime. It also has three movies. Overall, this time, I suggest starting with the anime rather than the manga because the visuals were really well-done.

Lastly, my favorite characters are Shoto Todoroki and Dabi.

My Hero Academia, internet aleminde kısaca Mha olarak bilinen mangamız Kōhei Horikoshi tarafından yazılıp çizilmiştir. 2014 yılında yayınlanmaya başlayan mangamız konu olarak Izuki Midoriya’nın süper kahraman olma hikayesini ve bu çerçevede gelişen olayları anlatmaktadır. Bu arada mangamız dünyada 50 milyondan fazla kopya satmış, birçok ödül de kazanmıştır.

Mangamızın geçtiği kurguda, insanlar quirk denilen süper güçlerle doğmaktadır. Tabi herkes bu güçlerle doğacak kadar şanslı değildir, ayrıca her süper güç faydalı da değildir. Yani mangada bile şanssızsanız hayat size gülmüyor be dostlar. Neyse. Bizim Midoriya’da böyle herhangi bir quirk’i olmadan doğan gençlerden birisi, ama en büyük hayali Japonyanın en büyük süper kahramanı olan All Might gibi olmaktır. Bu sebeplerle zaten Hero Academia’nın testlerine sınavlarına giriyor ve daha sonrasında All Might’ın rehberliğinde bu süreci devam ettiriyor. Burada All Might ile olan ilişkisi çok önemli ama spoiler olur diye konuya giremiyorum. Çünkü her şey uzaktan göründüğü gibi yolunda gitmiyor kahramanlar aleminde.

Bu arada ben hem mangasını okudum hem de animesini izledim. Ayrıca 3 tane de filmi var. Genel olarak bu sefer ben mangadan ziyade animesiyle de başlayabilirsiniz diyorum, çünkü görselliği gerçekten başarılıydı.

Son olarak da benim favori karakterim Shoto Todoroki ve Dabi’dir.

Tokyo Ghoul

Written and illustrated by Sui Ishida, Tokyo Ghoul consists of 14 volumes published between 2011 and 2014. However, you might also come across Tokyo Ghoul:re, which was released between 2014 and 2018 and comprises 16 volumes. Additionally, in 2013, a prequel to the series titled Tokyo Ghoul (Jack) was produced, although I personally haven’t read it. Furthermore, in 2014, an anime adaptation consisting of 12 episodes was released, followed by a second season and adaptations of other manga. Altogether, Tokyo Ghoul has about 48 anime episodes and 2 OVAs. I don’t think I’ve watched all 48 episodes, or maybe I’ve just forgotten. But back in the day, there was animefreak.tv; I recommend checking it out for those curious.

Now, onto the plot of the main series: In Tokyo, creatures known as ghouls emerge at night and sustain themselves by consuming fresh human flesh. These ghouls have their own systems, hierarchies, and societies within the classic structure of society. Ghouls are incredibly powerful and can regenerate themselves, which makes them quite a nuisance. Another distinctive feature is that their eyes turn black and their irises red when excited, agitated, or hungry. They look quite charismatic, I must say. Additionally, there are also hybrids, half-human and half-ghoul, who burn less. (I hope the joke didn’t fall flat, ahem) In summary, the story revolves around a character named Ken Kaneki, who encounters a ghoul and survives, subsequently transforming into a hybrid ghoul. He then adapts to his new life by working at a coffee shop called Anteiku, run by ghouls, and the series depicts his journey of adaptation and the events that unfold around him.

I’ve both read the manga and watched the anime. If you’re a fan of this kind of fantasy and dark-themed manga-anime, I highly recommend this beautiful series. In fact, let me leave a couple of visuals here.

Ancak sağda solda görürsünüz belki bir de 2014-2018 yılları arasında Tokyo Ghoul:Re diye çıkmıştır bizlerin huzuruna, ki o da 16 ciltten oluşmaktadır. Asıl serinin konusuna gelecek olursak, Tokyo’da geceleri ortaya çıkan ve ghouls adını veren yaratıklar bulunmakta ve bu yaratıklar taze insan eti yiyerek yaşamlarını sürdürebiliyorlar. Böyle klasik toplum içerisinde kendi sistemleri, düzenleri, hiyerarşileri olan bir yapıları var. Ghoullar oldukça güçlü ve kendilerini yenileyebiliyorlar, bu yüzden bir noktada baş belasılar. Bir de bunların diğer bir özelliği tahrik, heyecan ya da açlık durumlarında gözlerinin siyaha dönerek bu iris kısmının ise kırmızıya dönmesi. Evet çok karizmatik oluyorlar. Tabi bunların bir de yarı insan yarı ghoul şeklinde hibrit olanları da var, onlar daha az yakıyor. (umarım espri boşa gitmemiştir, ehem) özetle, Ken Kaneki ismindeki karakterimizin bir ghoul ile karşılaşıp hayatta kalması ve daha sonrasında hibrit bir ghoul a dönüşmesi, ghoullar tarafından idare edilen Anteiku adında bir kahve dükkanında işe girerek yeni hayatına adaptasyon sürecini ve çevresinde gelişen olayları anlatmaktadır.

Ben hem mangasını okudum hem de animesini izledim. Bu tarz fantastik ve aynı zamanda karanlık temalı manga-anime sevenlerdenseniz eğer şiddetle tavsiye ettiğim güzel bir seridir. Hatta bir iki görsel bırakayım buralara.

Ouran High School Host Club

Ouran High School Host Club, written and illustrated by Bisco Hatori, is a romantic comedy manga published in the shojo genre in the Lala magazine between 2002 and 2010, sir. If you’re wondering what shojo is, it’s a manga genre that targets young girls and encompasses various types of content, generally revolving around romantic relationships. When you look at our manga, you can see that all the boys are extremely handsome; I mean, even I had a crush on them. Our manga has also been adapted into many different genres.

As for the plot, our manga unfolds around a high school student named Haruhi Fujioka, who attends the prestigious and wealthy Ouran Academy. Our protagonist accidentally enters the room where 6 extremely handsome male students run the activities of the Ouran Academy Host Club (honestly, I didn’t translate this myself because I think you’ll understand the meaning of the word ‘host’ better when you read the manga) and subsequently breaks an antique vase and incurs a debt. Later, to repay this debt, Haruhi starts working in the club as a gofer. However, the significant issue here is that Haruhi is a girl. Well, this situation leads to the emergence of peculiar, Bermuda triangle-like emotional romantic relationships both within the club and among the club members.

The manga is actually an example of a typical crossdressing manga. This culture is quite common in Japan, where both women and men work as crossdressers in cafes or other environments. It’s a concept I like. The drawings are good. It’s a beautiful romantic comedy, to be honest. So, if it interests you, I recommend reading it; it’s already a very popular manga.

Ouran High School Host Club, 2002 ile 2010 yılları arasında, Bisco Hatori tarafından yazılıp çizilen Lala dergisinde yayınlanan Shojo türünde bir romantik komedi mangasıdır efendim. Shojo nedir derseniz eğer, kısaca genç kızları hedef kitlesi olarak belirleyen böyle her türden içeriğe sahip manga türüdür. Genellikle romantik ilişkiler çerçevesinde cereyan eder olaylar. Zaten mangamıza baktığınızda bütün oğlanların aşırı derecede yakışıklı olduğunu görebilirsiniz, hayır benim bile yürüyesim vardı. Mangamız ayrıca birçok farklı türe de dönüştürülmüştür.

Konusuna değinecek olursak, Haruhi Fujioka isminde bir liseli öğrencinin oldukça prestijli ve zengin bebelerin bulunduğu Ouran Akademisinde yaşamış olduğu olaylar çerçevesinde ilerlemektedir mangamız. Kahramanımız şans eseri 6 tane aşırı yakışıklı erkek öğrencinin kurmuş olduğu Ouran Academy Host Club’ın (açıkçası bunu kendimce çevirmedim çünkü host kelimesinin bu mangadaki karşılığını mangayı okurken daha iyi anlayacağınızı düşünüyorum) faaliyetlerini yürüttüğü odaya girer ve akabininde antika bir vazoyu kırıp borçlanır. Daha sonrasında bu borcu ödeyebilmek için kulüpte getir götürcü çocuk olarak çalışmaya başlar. Ancak burada mühim mesele Haruhi bir kızdır. Eh tabi bu durum hem kulüp içinde hem de kulüp üyeleri arasında böyle değişik, bermuda şeytan üçgeni misali duygusal romantik ilişkilerin oluşmasına sebebiyet verir.

Manga aslında tipik bir crossdressing mangasına örnektir. Japonyada bu kültür oldukça yaygın, hem kadınlar hem de erkekler crossdresser olarak kafelerde ya da başka ortamlarda çalışıyorlar. Benim sevdiğim bir konseptir. Çizimleri iyidir. Güzel bir romantik komedidir açıkçası. Bu yüzden ilginize çekerse okumanızı tavsiye ederim, zaten oldukça popüler bir mangadır.

Kuroko’s Basketball

To be honest, before I dive into details, I must say that it’s a highly successful anime series that I’ve watched three times, belonging to the sports genre. It’s a manga as well, which I’ve also read. Now, onto the details…

Also known as Kuroko’s Basketball, Kuroko No Basuke is a sports manga written and illustrated by Tadatoshi between 2008 and 2014, as the name implies. Its theme is naturally basketball, of course. It also has an anime adaptation that ran for 3 seasons. I believe there are 3 OVAs as well. Sometimes I get confused because I’ve watched it from different sources, sometimes as a single part and sometimes separately. But I believe the last part involves a series where they compete with American players, and there’s nothing beyond that.

Now, while the main character of our story is Tetsuya Kuroko, in my opinion, everyone is a main character in their own right. I’ll explain why.

During Junior High School, there’s a period and a team called the Generation of Miracles, whose players won the championship three times in a row. Tetsuya is the 6th player of this team. That is, he’s a player who joins the game later on, outside of the initial 5, and isn’t very well-known, but still manages to find a place among this miraculous generation. At this point, I don’t want to explain Tetsuya’s talent because it’s revealed in the first couple of episodes anyway. It would be a very unnecessary spoiler, so watch and learn, youngsters. Later on, the players of this team disperse and go to different high schools, and our Tetsuya, who could have gone to a good school with Aomine, ends up going to Seirin High School. The thing about Seirin High School is that it has a game structure based entirely on teamwork and friendship, which aligns with Tetsuya’s philosophy of loving the game, not just focusing on victory. Here, he finds a new light, and my favorite character is Taiga Kagami. Our story progresses beautifully from here.

It’s an extremely enjoyable and entertaining anime to watch. Reading it is just as fun. I particularly love the camp periods. It’s a series I strongly recommend.

Kuroko No Basuke olarak da bilinen Kuroko’s Basketball 2008 ile 2014 yılları arasında, Tadatoshi tarafından yazılıp çizilen adından da anlaşılacağı üzere bir spor mangasıdır. Teması doğal olarak basketbol tabi ki. Aynı zamanda animesi de bulunmakta olup 3 sezon sürmüştür. Ayrıca 3 ovası var diye biliyorum. Yani ben farklı kaynaklardan bazen tek part bazen ayrı ayrı izlediğim için bu noktada kafam karıştı. Ama en son ABD’li oyuncularla kapıştıkları bir seri var, ondan sonrası yok diye biliyorum.

Efendim hikayemizin ana karakteri her ne kadar Tetsuya Kuroko olarak geçse de bana göre herkes kendi çapında bir ana karakterdir. Nedenini anlatacağım.

Şimdi Junior High School döneminde 3 kez üst üste şampiyon olan ve bu takımın oyuncularının Generation Of Miracles olarak adlandırılan bir dönem ve takım var. Tetsuya ise bu takımın 6. oyuncusu. Yani ilk 5 dışında oyuna sonradan dahil olan ve adı çok bilinmeyen ama gene de bu mucize nesil arasında kendisine yer bulabilmiş oyuncu. Bu noktada Tetsuya’nın yeteneğini açıklamak istemiyorum çünkü zaten ilk bir iki bölümde ortaya çıkıyor. Hani çok gereksiz bir spoiler olur, izleyin öğrenin gençler. Daha sonrasında bu takımın oyuncuları dağılarak farklı liselere gidiyor, keza bizim Tetsuya’da normalde Aomine ile birlikte iyi bir liseye gidebilecekken Seirin lisesine gidiyor. Seirin lisesinin olayı tam bir takım arkadaşlığı ve dostluk üzerine kurulu bir oyun yapısına sahip olması, bu durum bizim Tetsuya’nın oyunu sevelim, amaç zafer değil sürecinde önemi büyük felsefesiyle de örtüşüyor. Burada kendisine yeni bir ışık buluyor, ki kendisi benim favori karakterim Taiga Kagami’dir. Hikayemiz buradan başlayıp oldukça güzel bir şekilde ilerliyor.

İzlemesi aşırı keyifli ve eğlenceli bir anime. Okuması gene bir o kadar eğlenceli. Özellikle kamp dönemlerini ben çok severim. Şiddetle tavsiye ettiğim bir seridir.

Ace of Diamond

Ace of Diamond,” our manga series, which continued publication between 2006 and 2015 initially, followed by a second chapter starting from August 2015, is a baseball-themed manga. The story revolves around Eijun Sawamura being scouted while playing baseball in his neighborhood, and then the classic journey of participating in national tournaments in both summer and winter, aiming to win the tournament to create a memorable moment for their upperclassmen. They even had a name for the baseball field they stepped onto, but it escapes my mind right now. The second half of the series also depicts the progress of a new team formed around Sawamura and his friends. Sawamura’s specialty, as a pitcher, is making difficult pitches. Of course, such a pitcher’s catcher must also be extraordinary; otherwise, there’s no point to the story. Friends more actively engaged in baseball may provide more detailed explanations on the topic.

Besides the manga, I’ve also watched the anime. The most important thing that stuck in my mind was how widespread baseball culture is in Japan. While Westernization movements brought baseball to the country around 1872, I didn’t know it was loved so much. At least, it wasn’t my specific area of interest. In my opinion, it’s a bit weaker compared to other sports manga I’ve read. Because there’s another manga related to tennis, if I’m not mistaken, called “The Prince Of Tennis.” That one seemed more complex to me, and I think there’s even a movie on Netflix now.

Ace of Diamond, 2006 ile 2015 yılları arasında ilki daha sonrasında ikinci chapter kıvamında 2015 yılının ağustos ayından sonra yayınlanmaya devam eden mangamız baseball temalı bir mangadır. 2013 ile 2016 yılları arasında ilk bölümün, 2019 ile 2020 yılları arasında da ikinci bölümün animesi yayınlanmıştır. Mangamız Yuji Terajima tarafından yazılıp çizilmiştir. Evet, her seferinde bu isimleri vererek bir nebze bu isimleri hafızalara kazımak istiyorum. Ayrıca mangamız 2008 ve 2010 yılında Shonen kategorisinde en iyi manga olarak ödül almıştır.

Yani tabi Japonyadaki batılılaşma hareketleri 1872 yılı itibarıyla baseball u ülkeye getirmiş ama hani sevildiğini ben bilmiyordum. En azında benim spesifik ilgi alanım değildi. Şahsi düşüncem diğer okuduğum spor mangaları vs. yanında biraz zayıf kaldığıdır. Çünkü tenisle ilgili bir manga daha var. Yanılmıyorsam adı The Prince Of Tennis idi. “Fullmetal Alchemist,” serialized between 2001 and 2010 and collected into 27 volumes, was written and illustrated by Hiromu Arakawa. It’s a Shounen manga, targeting young people, specifically boys aged 12-18. Typically, manga in this genre are among the most popular and top-selling ones.

I, personally, got into the manga after being introduced to its anime adaptation. The story revolves around two brothers, Edward and Alphonse Elric, in an alternative world where alchemy is widely used. In this world, alchemists can create anything they want using the transmutation circle, but they must sacrifice something of equal value in return, following the principle of equivalent exchange. Moreover, human transmutation is forbidden, and those who attempt it often sacrifice a part of their own bodies for it. Moving on to the beginning of our story, the Elric brothers, abandoned by their father at a young age, later lose their mother due to illness. In an attempt to bring their mother back, they perform a transmutation process, which fails, resulting in Edward losing his left leg and Alphonse losing his entire body. Edward sacrifices his right arm at the last moment to bind his brother’s soul to a suit of armor, keeping him alive. From this point on, our story continues in the pursuit of revenge and the philosopher’s stone.

Honestly, this manga and anime series is one that I’ve started and left unfinished at times. I’m not sure why, but for some reason, I couldn’t focus on the story after a certain point. Or perhaps it wasn’t the right time to watch it. That’s why I haven’t seen the end of the story, but it’s still a series worth recommending. Watching the anime was enjoyable, and it’s currently available on some platforms.

Fma’yı ben açıkçası animesi ile tanıdıktan sonra mangasına düşmüş birisiyim. Açıkçası bu manga ve anime, benim dönem dönem başlayıp yarım bıraktığım bir seridir. Nedenini bilmiyorum ama nedense bir noktadan sonra konuya odaklanamıyorum. Ya da belki izlemek için doğru zaman değildi. Bu yüzden hikayenin sonunu göremedim ama tavsiye edilesi bir seridir. Animesini izlemek keyifliydi, şu an hali hazırda bazı platformlarda izlenebiliyor.

Jujutsu Kaisen

“Jujutsu Kaisen,” written and illustrated by Gege Akutami, is a manga series that has been in publication since 2018 and as of December 2021, has been collected under 18 volumes, also having an anime adaptation.

The story generally revolves around Yuji Itadori, a high school student who lives with his grandfather. Although this brother is quite talented in sports, he joins a research club based on mystical subjects to visit his dying grandfather in the hospital. Later, Yuji’s grandfather passes away in the hospital, but during this time, he advises his grandson to always help others and not die alone, or rather, to have people attend his funeral. It’s the classic advice to be a good person, to be loved by those around you, and to leave behind a legacy of kindness for others. Anyway, Yuji takes these words and keeps them in a corner of his mind. Later, he encounters Megumi Fushiguro, a sorcerer at his school, who talks about a cursed talisman at the school. Later, when the seal of the talisman is lifted, it is revealed that the talisman is actually a finger belonging to Ryomen Sukuna, possessing a very powerful curse. To protect Megumi and his other friends, Yuji swallows this finger. Yes, you heard it right, he swallows it. Normally, Yuji shouldn’t be able to handle Sukuna’s power, but he regains control of his body, and our story begins here. I won’t tell you more because both the anime and manga are quite enjoyable.

Honestly, it’s a series I recommend for those who imagine a world where magic and curses exist, where there are organizations we don’t know about in normal life, and they deal with magic and mystical arts.

Konu genel olarak, büyükbabası ile yaşayan uyumsuz bir lise öğrencisi Yuji Itadori etrafında dönmektedir. Bu kardeşimiz spora oldukça yatkın olmasına rağmen ölmekte olan hasta büyükbabasını hastanede ziyaret etmek için böyle mistik konular üzerine kurulmuş olan araştırma kulübüne katılır. Daha sonrasında Yuji’nin büyük babası hastanede son nefesini verir, ancak bu esnada torununa her zaman diğerlerine yardım etmesi ve ölürken yalnız ölmemesi daha doğrusu cenazene gelecek insan bulunsun minvalinde bir öğüt verir. The first anime series, consisting of 167 episodes, aired from 2000 to 2004, while the second series, “Inuyasha: The Final Act,” comprised of 26 episodes, aired from 2009 to 2010. There is also one OVA and four films associated with the franchise.

The story of the manga revolves around Kagome Higurashi, a 15-year-old middle school student living in present-day Tokyo. After falling into the well of her family shrine, Kagome finds herself transported to the Sengoku period (a period of civil war in Japan, ranging from 1467 to 1615), where she encounters a half-demon, half-human creature.

While living with her mother, grandfather, and younger brother at the family shrine, Kagome falls into the well inside the shrine while searching for her cat on her 15th birthday. She finds herself in an alternate dimension in Japan’s Sengoku period. The demon she encounters was previously defeated by a warrior priestess named Kikyo, who was also the protector of the Shikon Jewel. It is later revealed that Kagome is the reincarnation of Kikyo, and the half-human, half-demon creature she meets is Inuyasha. Subsequently, the powerful artifact, the Shikon Jewel, is shattered, and its shards are scattered across Japan. Kagome and Inuyasha then embark on a journey to collect the shattered pieces of the jewel. And the story goes on…

I have both watched the anime and read the manga of this series. Honestly, the artwork is a bit old-fashioned, but I personally like it. However, those who are used to reading or watching newer styles of manga/anime may not enjoy it as much. Therefore, I recommend giving it a try without any prejudice.

Kuyuya düşen Kagome kendisini alternatif bir evrende Japonyanın Sengoku döneminde bulur. Bu iblisimiz zamanında savaşçı bir priestess (Çevirisi rahibe ama bence tam karşılamıyor. Eski bir frp ci olarak kemiklerim sızladı.) olan Kikyo tarafından daha önce yenilmiş, Kikyo’da Shikon incisinin (en azından ben inci diye çeviriyorum, mücevher de diyebilirsiniz) koruyucusuymuş. Daha sonrasında Kagome’nin Kikyo’nun reenkarnasyonu olduğu, tanıştığı bu yarı insan yarı iblis/köpek,tilkinin ise Inuyasha olduğu ortaya çıkıyor. Daha sonrasında değişik olaylar esnasında bu oldukça güçlü artifact olan inci kırılıyor ve tüm Japonya’ya saçılıyor. Daha sonra bu iki kafadar incinin kırılan parçalarını toplamak için seyahatlerine başlıyorlar. Ve goes on…

Ben bu manganın hem animesini izlemiştim hem mangasını okumuştum. Açıkçası çizimleri biraz eski usul, ben seviyorum ama yeni tarzda manga okuyanlar ya da anime izleyenler varsa belki sevmeyebilir. Bu sebeple önyargılı olmayın bence bir başlayın derim.
